ANG INUMAN VOL. XVI "ONDOY AFTERMATH"

julius called me up thursday night, nag gm daw si chard punta daw sa kanila bukas (friday) to help him clean up sabi ko sige sige punta ako para din makita ko kung anong kalagayan nila chard after ng bagyo. then friday mga around 4pm nag punta nako kanila chard, grabe ang traffic on the way sa marikina nakaka bwisit! while i was on the jeep heading towards the city of marikina, i couldnt help myself but to glaze the whole city itself, i was shocked of what the "ondoy" had brought to this city as in parang nasa lahar at may sumabog na bulkan. its so mudy on every corner of the streets and not to mention the dust scattered all over you couldnt almost breathe, whe i got to the sports center (i didnt exactly know richard's place) i called him up kung anong sasakyan ko papaunta sa kanila, mag jeep daw ako papuntang calumpang, when i thought the municipality's place was bad enough but i was wrong! as i approuch near to calumpang, the worst was just to come. as in walang kuryente at kala mo lahat ng bahay dun eh bagong lipat kasi lahat ng gamit nasa labas ng kalsada (with matching putik) pag dating ko kanila chard nakita agad sila julius nag papala ng mga basura sobrang daming basura sa tapat ng bahay nila chard, nanlumo ako sa nakita ko, sobra palang grabe ang epekto ni ondoy sa marikina. mga mag gagabi nako nun nakarating kanila chard (6pm) so yun pag dating ko pinasok ko yung bag ko sa loob then kuha ng black bag ayun hakot ng basura dito, doon. ibat-ibang klaseng basura ang nandoon not to mention the smell na di mo maintindihan na rotten dead bodies of some kind of animals yung nandun, basta hakot nalang ako ng hakot, pala dito, pala doon. together with orly, tan, denver and some B.A students that im not familiar with lahat kami nag tulong para linisin yung basura, around 8pm ata nun denver decided na uuwi na sila at di talaga namin kaya ubusin lahat ng basura and plus sobrang dilim sa place dahil walang kuryente dun ang nag sisilbing ilaw lang dun eh yung mga head lights ng mga dumadaang sasakyan. after namin mag linis todo hugas ng kamay then julius and i decided naman na dun nalang mag stay kanila chard at mag inuman nalang. even though tatlo lang kami nag iinuman masaya naman kasi puro kantahan ng mga favorite songs namin hehe. and surprisingly walang nalasing saming tatlo. i had fun really.

ANG INUMAN VOL. XV "RICHARD IS DEAD JOKE, IS NOT FUNNY!!!"

Manginginom: Karl, Leap Year, Billy, Richard and Chay

I have no intention actually to write about what happen that friday night cos nothing special happen, but saturday morning after that, the worst case scenerio hit us! friday afternoon, we already planned that theres an inuman this friday after the mr. & ms UE. unfortunately our own bet cj lost but that didnt stop us not to have "inuman" the four of us (karl, leap year, billy and i) decided to head to leap year's house first si chard kasi he companied cj and her group kakain daw sila so we told richard na were just gonna wait him dun sa bahay nalang ni leap year since mag kalapit naman sila leap year ng bahay eh. the rain was already pouring heavy that night all for us were all drench and kind of pissed kasi hirap makasay ng taxi, when we got there (leap year's) pahinga muna and nuod ng balita, we stayed there for about an hour or so, when richard texted us kung nasan na kami around 1am na ata yun we headed na to richard's, so yun all five of us started to drown ourselves with alcohol but not me! eh pano naman "grand ma" ang tinira nila eh di naman ako umiinom nun, so richard said na "appetizer" lang daw yun at susunod ang red horse. when the bottle of "grand ma" were almost half empty i notice billy and leap year were almost wasted and that didnt look good and kind of unusual kasi ako lagi ang unang nalalasing samin, but what really bums me out is that we're not allowed to smoke inside richard's house! i mean how fucked up is that?! anyways, i took a puff once in while yun nga lang you have to go leave the house if you want to smoke i think for the whole of inuman i only took 4 cigars, i mean how surprising is that? even i myself cannot believe that ive gone through inuman without cigars! as far as i can remember naka 3 mucho lang ata kami and im far from being drunk yet! billy goes down first then comes richard and leap year slowy past out in front of us, so its just karl and i left standing, usap dito, usap don catching up whats new with him bla bla, around 4am karl decided that he can no longer take it and he has to sleep. so i was left there all alone gazing up the window watching the heavy rain. i think i fell asleep for about an hour or so when i woke up its already 6am and it is as if its sitll dawn cos the sun is nowhere to be found and the clouds were dark as night, richard's mom woke up first and offered me to eat breakfast first and i told her that i really need to go home kasi puro miss call na yung tatay ko at di ako nakapag paalam, but she insisted that i should atleast wait for richard to wake up and so as the others, but i really cant, my dad's gonna kill me! i woke up billy and waved goodbye at him but he just scolded me na "sige ganyan ka chay! pero nung hinimatay ka hinintay kita tas ngayon iiwan mo ko. tsk!" kinunsenya pa ko ni gago?! but that really cant stop from going home, di nako nakapag paalam kay chard kasi tulog na tulog. when i got home around 7am diresto tulog na then i woke up around 7pm then the news shocked me of what typhoon ondoy brought us. most of the news eh puro marikina, pasig and cainta cos those were the places na sobrang naapektuhan. i got so worried thinking about kung anong lagay nila chard, i have no news about what happen to them, so just yesterday billy texted me of what theyve just gone through dun sa marikina, they were stranded dun sa place nila richard till sunday, and what really shocked me is that yung first floor nila chard lubog sa baha eh nandun pa naman yung kabuhayan nila chard (bakery) the flood really wipe out lahat ng tinda nila and the rest ng kagamitan nila sa pag gawa ng bakery. sobrang affected yung bahay nila chard, it got me thinking if i havent gone home that morning nandun din ako stranded sa marikina. just last night, the most aggrivating and nerve racking joke pissed the shit out of me, while i was checking my facebook, orly gives me a horrible message,

Orlando: bro, natanggap nyo na ba yung text?

Christian: nino?

Orlando:pare,,, nagtext family ni richard..gamit number ni chard,, patay na daw sya kaninang 6:15pm

Christian: seryoso ka?????

Orlando: oo.,, alang signal ng phine dito sa amin,, di ako makatext buti nga nakapasok ung text kay chard ehh... kaya try ko dito sa net baka online kau.....

Christian: pare walang lokohan ng ganyan!!! (im strating to freak out at that moment kasi i know orly, and he wouldnt say such jokes like that)

Orlando: pare,,, di ako nagloloko..,,, pare,, kung makakapagonline mga LM sa facebook..,, please text them,,, para makapagusap tau..,,,,

i called up richard right away but it was out of coverage, then nakipag chat ulit ako kay orly, as in nga ffreak out na naku nun. so what i did was i called up ellan.

Chay: ellan! totoo ba?!

Ellan: no! hindi sya totoo! nabalitaan ko nga rin at ummiiyak nako nun nung nabasa ko tinawagan ko agad si chard at nabosesan ko na sya yung sumagot. yun pala nag trip yung barkada ni chard at ginamit yung phone nya.

i started to cool down,wooh! but fuck! that is not a funny joke! that was so infuriating! i talked to orly said that i just talked to ellan and she told me that the rumor was not true, same reaction, even ate luisa freaks out and orly too on the other hand cools down. but seriously, man that was not funny!

wooh! what a weekend that was for all of us!

holy shit, i cried!

with so many countless movies ive seen, i can honestly say that theres only two of them made me weep like an 7 y/o girl. that is CINEMA PARADISO & TEAGUKGI

first off, CINEMA PARADISO (1989), an italian film made by guiseppe tornatore, it tells about the story of "toto" a young boy who grew up not knowing about his father in a small sicilian village around 40's-50's fast forwarding to the future he is (toto) a successful film director, he returns home for the funeral of "alredo", his old friend who was a projectionist at the local cinema throughout "toto's" childhood and adloscent days, soon memories of his past came flashing back at him as he reminisce his life and reconnects with the community he left 30 years earlier from his first love affair with beautiful elena and all the highs and lows that shaped his life. i can practically see myself as "toto" a i myself is a filmbuff. throughout his childhood life the cinema became his huge playground, his fondness of cinema had became literally part of his life. the movie also divided in 3 stages that revolves around "toto's" life. from childhood where he always sneak in to the projection booth to see how the films works and to his adolescent days where he finds his first love and lastly his adult stage where he is now a successful director but still he find himself half empty. i consider this movie as the #1 pick of the best movie ive seen until the "godfather" comes along which by the way is now my top pick. but having said that, everything about this film is brilliant! from gorgeous cinematography upto the beautiful film score it just give me chills!

Tearjerker moment: on the last part where alredo gave toto all the negatives that contained all the nudity and kisses (back then nudity is not allowed to show so they have to cut it) and he started to watch it, well its just a bunch of cut out scene from different movies showing clips of nudity and kisses and then beautiful theme starts to play, argh! tears just begin to flow in my eyes without me realizing it! i was really sobbing! and upto its final credit UMIIYAK PARIN AKO! i think it took about 10mins after i came to my senses.

the next one is TAEGUKGI a.k.a "the brotherhood of war" (2004), a korean war film base on the relationship of two brothers who were forcely joined the army to fight with their rival nation N.Korea. the film begins with an old man (jin seok) being called up for an investigation if he knew something about the old remains of the skeleton seen. then he started to tell the story of what really happen between him and his brother during the war. the date was set during 1950 where the war was just about to start. jin tae (older brother) is a shoeshine boy and the bread winner of the family who works very hard just to make their ends meet and so that he could send his younger brother (jin seok) to college. when everything starting to go smoothly, the south korean government ordered they needed the help of the people, so every boy aged 18-30 must join the army. both jin tae and jin seok (jin seok just turned 18 at that time) have no choice but to join and leave their mute mother alone together with jin tae's fiance. since jin tae loved his brother so much and wanted his younger brother to be out of the war he requested to the chief that he would do everything. and he did, evertime that there will be an attack jin tae volunteer himself to fight even if he is not needed just he could send his younger brother home. but jin seok misunderstood his older brother's sacrifice and thinks that his older brother just simply doing it so that he could be promoted and be the nation's hero. all through out during the war jin seok hold a grudge against his older brother and thinks that the war eats his older brother up and became greedy of honors. when jin tae finds out that jin seok together with his fiance were killed by south koreans for suspecting as north koreans, jin tae is so furious thats why he diceded to join the enemies ally and sworn that he will kill every south koreans there is. but little did jin tae knows, his younger brother is still alive. jin seok seek his brother to help him surrender to south korean government but jin tae didnt recognize his own brother and tries to kill him and said that his brother is already dead.

tearjerker moment: when jin seok seek his older brother right in the center of the battle field he keeps saying that "bro! im jin seok, your brother!" but jin tae keeps beating him and screaming "my brother is dead!" then jin seok push his brother to the ground hugged him and look straight to his face and said (crying)"do you ever think about mom? you cant die, you have to see me go to college, you still have to make the shoes that you promised" then jin tae realizes that that was indeed his younger brother. jin tae ordered jin seok that he have to go far and he will surrender to the south government after jin seok left, jin tae was shot several times. then fast forward to the future. the old jin seok is standing in front of his older brother's skeleton's remain sobbing and said "i shouldnt left you there alone, ive been waiting for you for 50 years, brother say something! say something! (crying)" and when jin seok came back home he found the hidden shoe where his older brother is making for him. man! this movie made me cried my eyes out!
